Partnering with a Purpose
What is a Career Vision High School Partnership?
As champions for Career Literacy, we provide scholarships
and free educational programs in which we share research and
best practices on the key steps to achieving success in college
and a satisfying work life.
Why partner?
In spite of heavy student caseloads, a wide range of college
preparatory responsibilities, counseling, and administrative
work, guidance counselors are doing a remarkable job of helping
students get into college. On the other hand, large caseloads
leave limited opportunity for counselors to meet with parents
and students to share valuable Career Literacy information.
Supporting the good work of guidance departments, Career Vision
provides this critical career and college major planning information
in programs for their high school families.
"Our guidance counselors are realistic
in knowing that we cannot possibly meet with every family
to help them with personalized career planning. We have students
who know they will be attending college but don't necessarily
know what they want to major in or the purpose of their education.
The workshops provided by Career Vision help complement the
guidance activities we do in school and ultimately help prepare
our students for a more successful college experience and
career."

As partners, our mission is to reduce these growing statistics:
-
1/3 of college students leave after their first year
in college
-
Almost 50% of college students never graduate
-
Over 50% of adults are unhappy in their jobs
What are the reasons for these statistics?
-
Students are overwhelmed-- having over 150 majors from
which to choose and hundreds of careers to consider
-
Students haven't identified the right college majors
or career paths to keep them engaged in their studies
-
As a result, students lack the confidence and motivation
to persist
Self-awareness is the cornerstone of Career Literacy and
vital to successful career planning. Our partnership programs
provide families with additional tools and information to
help them:
-
Improve the post-high school transition
-
Set and achieve realistic goals
-
Develop knowledge and potential for success
Unfocused or misdirected major and career exploration in
college is expensive. Families can save time and frustration
by understanding the keys to optimum college major and career
planning. Career Vision programs at your high school provide
families with the framework for student success and satisfaction
in college and beyond.
