Our History: The Evolution of an Idea
The Ball Foundation of Glen Ellyn, Illinois was established
in 1975 by G. Carl and Vivian Elledge Ball. Career Vision
was established in 1989 as the service and career consulting
division of The Ball Foundation.
The Foundation was originally dedicated
to three critical goals:
- To understand the
nature of aptitudes.
- To answer some of
the questions about what makes people successful and satisfied
with their jobs.
- To use aptitude testing to help individuals
find job success and satisfaction among the many options.
The Foundation's research and development efforts led to
the development of the Ball
Aptitude Battery®, a valid and reliable series of
tests that are used to identify an individual's unique profile
of strengths.
With the initial development of the tests completed, the
Foundation established Career Vision to provide career services
to students and adults, teaching them how to make the best
career decisions based on their natural abilities. Over the
years, Career Vision staff has developed a comprehensive career
planning model (see diagram) grounded in theory and focused
on the needs of each individual client.
