How Will College Be Different From High School?
The transition from high school to college can be exciting,
complex and scary - all at the same time. It's uncharted territory
for first generation college students and for any parent launching
their first child into the collegiate environment. At Career
Vision, we know the importance of information and preparation.
We hope this resource will be a useful tool for building confidence
and setting expectations.
The article, "How
Will College Be Different From High School?" concisely
addresses the contrasts in the areas of personal freedom,
classes, teachers, study expectations, test taking, and grades.
Parents may find that the article is a helpful springboard
for discussion with your college freshman. If you have high
school students in the house, the college list can be introduced
as a checklist for actions and behaviors to begin developing
while still in high school, while parental support and guidance
is present on a daily basis.
